Tofino Tree Dance Community Classes with Aeriosa
Come join Aeriosa’s team of tree dancers and riggers and let us guide you on an unforgettable journey into the forest canopy. Immerse yourself in nature, creativity and adventure as we explore an interspecies dance experience with big trees. Aeriosa instructors will introduce you to rope and harness safety systems and checks while you have fun learning new movement skills, in a supportive environment.
When: Saturday May 23rd & Sunday May 24th
Where: North Chesterman Beach Trail at Lynn Road & Osprey Lane, Tofino
Pre-requisite: This Tree Dance Workshop is suitable for participants of all levels. No previous dance or climbing experience is needed.
Tree Dance for Families | 10:30am-1pm
For Kids Ages 7+ and Parents

Tree Dance for Youth | 2:30pm-5pm
For Youth Ages 14 – 18
Capacity: 8 participants

Note: Participants 14 years of age and older are required to sign a liability release form and attend the pre-class briefing. Parents of youth (14-18) are required to co-sign the participant’s liability release. Parents of children (7-13) must sign a consent form and remain present during the class. Note, parents are welcome and encouraged to register and participate with their kids!

Community Engaged Rehearsal and Performance
Come and work with us, bring your ideas and energy, as we collaborate to create a performance on the theme of bears.
All workshop attendees who participated in a Tofino Tree Dance Workshop with Aeriosa on May 23 or 24, are welcomed to join Aeriosa in rehearsal over the following four days as we build a series of short performance works together on the theme of animals in the trees. This is an exciting chance to dive into the creative process with Aeriosa artists, led by Aeriosa Artistic Director Julia Taffe, and be part of developing a new, site-specific project. The final work will be performed on May 29.
Please note capacity is limited all interested community performers are encouraged to express their interest with their workshop registration. In order to work safely and thoughtfully together, all performers should be available to attend the entire rehearsal and performance process (5 afternoons total). Exact schedule to be agreed upon in person with the Aeriosa team.
Rehearsal: May 25, 26, 27, 28, 4pm – 5:30pm
Technical Rehearsal: May 29, 4pm – 5:30pm
Performance: 6pm – 7pm

Vertical Dance Choreographic Creation Lab with Aeriosa
Join Aeriosa Dance Artists for a 6-week progressive class using rope and harness systems to inspire your creativity while developing choreography on the ground and in the air.

Where: Roundhouse Community Centre | 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver
Class Description:
This choreographic lab will utilize the knowledge from the introductory course and focus on play, improvisation, collaboration, exploring movement quality, and creating choreography. We will take our warm up to the next level by learning a flowing warm up sequence on the ropes. Bring your curiosity for dance-making and expressive movement into the room while exploring solos, duets and trios in the harness at different heights.
Pre-requisite: Completion of “Introduction to Vertical Dance with Aeriosa”, or with instructors’ permission.

Introduction to Vertical Dance for Adults
Join Aeriosa Dance Artists for a 6-class introductory series using rope and harness systems to explore vertical dance.
When:
Fridays, 5:30pm to 7:30pm | November 14 – December 19, 2025
Where: Roundhouse Community Centre | 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver
Class Description:
This beginner-level class is designed to introduce the exhilaration of vertical dance While developing safety awareness and practicing rope and harness systems. During this progressive series, participants will be introduced to fundamental vertical dance skills by learning choreography and creative movement exercises. Vertical dancers move differently on the ground and in the air: Join Arioso Dance Artists for this fun class that builds core strength while hovering, sliding, swinging, tilting, rotating, and tipping upside down.
No prerequisites are required.
Registration:
6-class series: $240
Suitable for participants of all levels. No previous dance or climbing experience is needed.
