Intro to Vertical Dance for Professional Performers... Learning to Fly!

  • Faris Studio Theatre 677 Davie Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 2G6 Canada (map)

Classes take place in the Faris Studio Theatre at Scotiabank Dance Centre. Each day begins with a group warm up followed by special exercises designed to improve core strength and stability while hanging in a harness.

On the first day there will be a detailed safety orientation providing information about the equipment and a review of the rope systems followed by instruction and practice while moving in a harness up to 2 meters above the floor. Day two and three participants practice ascending, descending and working higher in the air, alone as well as in groups of 2-6.

Note: This workshop is intended for dancers and others with similar levels of physical fitness. Dancing while suspended in a harness requires core strength, flexibility and coordination. All participants must sign a release of liability waiver to complete registration.
